In early 2024, I enrolled in a Feng Shui course because I was intrigued by its concepts. I must admit, it was somewhat perplexing due to the numerous methods of applying its principles in your home. This blog focuses on crystals, but first, what exactly is Feng Shui?
The Art of Feng Shui
Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese practice of arranging spaces that integrates principles of nature and spirituality. It is crucial to note that it is not a religion. The term ‘Feng’ (pronounced “fung”) means ‘wind,’ and ‘shui’ (pronounced “shway”) means ‘water.’ This practice is centered around the flow of positive ch’i, or energy. Ch’i, also known as chi, is the life force that exists in everything in the universe—both living and non-living. Chi forms the foundation of Feng Shui, along with the concepts of yin and yang and the five elements. Applying Feng Shui principles can enhance the flow of chi in a space, improve how individuals interact with their surroundings, and elevate the quality of one’s living conditions and relationships.
Crystals
Crystals are used frequently in Feng Shui as cures for spaces and one’s personal life areas. Each crystal carries a specific vibration that is used to enhance a different area of your home.
You can purchase the following crystals on Amazon and probably have them arrive before you ordered them!
Citrine at your front door
The crystal Citrine is all about abundance and prosperity. In Feng Shui, the front door of your home is the mouth of all abundance, happiness, and creativity. So, place this crystal inside your front door to welcome this shining energy in.
Black Tourmaline in corners of the home
Your home is your sanctuary, so you want to protect its energy. Black Tourmaline is a protective crystal which absorbs negative energy and grounds us into our space. They say to place Black Tourmaline in the corners of your home and at your front doorstep to prevent any unwelcome energy flowing in.
Smokey Quartz in the bathroom
Bathrooms are naturally spaces that are filled with lots of water energy. Too much water energy can be unstable, causing restless sleep and indecisiveness – especially if your home has bathrooms with shared walls. Smokey Quartz is a grounding and earthing crystal, so place this in your bathroom to balance the energy flow and allow for more stability in your space.
Pyrite and Selenite in the office
Pyrite is a creative stone which helps to bring forth new ideas and positive energy. This is a great crystal to place on your desk or at your computer. Selenite can help to cleanse your office to get rid of any stagnant energy at the end of the day. Either place this crystal above the doorway to act as an energetic reset as you enter the office, or beneath your desk to clear away the electro smog and brain fog.
Rose Quartz and Amethyst on the bedside table
Bedrooms are a place to sleep and make love, and that should really be it. You want a restful sleep and a romantic, loving space to enjoy. Rose Quartz will bring in those loving vibes, whether it’s for yourself or for your relationship. Always have a pair of Rose Quartz crystals in the bedroom if you are calling in love or for support with your relationship. Amethyst has a calming effect and so it’s perfectly placed in the bedroom to help create a tranquil space for you to relax into.
Clear Quartz in the centre of the house
The centre of your home, or any space for that matter, is where the grounding energy is. Clear Quartz is a great crystal to bring in clarity and highlight all the good energy around you. It will also keep the energy clean and balanced. Avoid placing too much fire energy in the centre of your home – like Citrine, Carnelian or Amber. This is the health hub in your home and too much strong crystal energy could create unease.

Remember that if something doesn’t feel quite right to you, move your crystals around. It’s your space and only you know how you want to feel. Every home, space and person are unique – this is just a guide to help you on your way!
Some nos in Feng Shui
Display broken items or mosaic glass
Keep dead or fake plants and flowers unless they look extremely real
Hang negative artwork i.e. sadness, war, violence
Own sharp-edged furniture especially in the bedroom
Hang mirrors facing your bed
Position your office desk or bed in front of a window
Purchase decor with pointy edges. These are considered poison arrows
Place storage bins under your bed
Have wild animal decor or prints in places of rest
Live in clutter as this will block energy and the flow of chi. That's where we come in!!
